The Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry is a joint venture between Church of the Holy Spirit and our Belmont neighbors, Assumption BVM Catholic Church. The pantry is located at Church of the Holy Spirit, 1200 Post Road, Belmont, MI. Beginning The pantry is open once a week, on Tuesday from 6-7:30 pm. Operated as a satellite pantry of Access of West Michigan, through North Kent Community Services, it is an emergency food pantry; please contact North Kent Community Services at (616) 866-3478 for a referral. The food pantry is closed on major holidays.
In 2015, the pantry served 629 family units. For many individuals, this was their first visit to our pantry. These families were made up of 1,968 people, receiving approximately 18,547 items of food and necessary supplies.
Between 30 and 40 people volunteer in the pantry in a variety of jobs. New volunteers are welcome. If interested, please call our church’s office and leave a message for Wes Miller. See News for more pantry happenings, or find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BelmontFoodPantry.
Your food contributions are accepted gladly! These items routinely are needed in the pantry: pasta sauce, cereal, jelly/jam, peanut butter, canned pasta, canned fruit, canned vegetables, coffee, baking items (boxed mixes, sugar, etc.), personal care items. Please drop off items during Sunday worship services, or during the pantry’s regular operating hours.
To keep our shelves stocked, we have participated in the County Wide Food Drive run by Access of West Michigan each fall; the food collected by our volunteers goes directly to our pantry’s shelves. Our two congregations regularly contribute food, as do Assumption BVM School students, Rockford Public Schools bus drivers, and local Boy Scouts. We receive generous monetary donations from the two parishes, as well as ABVM Knights of Columbus, Priority Health employees, and individual donors.
As the need for food assistance increases, the pantry board keeps looking for other ways to get more food for less money. We need your help. We are very grateful for monetary donations to the pantry. Checks should be made payable to Loaves & Fishes Emergency Food Pantry and sent to Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 1200 Post Drive NE, Belmont, MI 49306.
You also can make a donation directly to Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry via PayPal. You do not need to have a PayPal account –you can use your major credit card. All contributions made through this link go directly to the food pantry. Please click on the Donate button, below:
